Frozen meters

Cold weather results in some not-so-pleasant surprises!  Frozen pipes and busted lines are never welcomed in anyone’s home.  The water district has a tip to help you!  Once the repairs are finished, be sure to put the meter lid back on the meter box.  It may not seem like much, but the box helps insulate the meter tremendously!  Without the lid, cold air sinks down into the box which can freeze and bust the bottom of the meter.  It is never fun for the field operators or for you to fix.  So remember this tip next time you have to work on your lines in the freezing temperatures.  It might just save you from getting frost bit!!!
